Six weeks in, Avatar continues to rake in the records. This weekend Avatar passed the foreign box office record set by Titanic back in 1998. Avatar has brought in $1.288 billion, soaring past Titanic’s record of $1.242 billion. And Avatar should pass by Titanic’s $1.84 billion worldwide box office record in the next week, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and that’s a record no one thought would ever fall.
